International Plasma Awareness Week IN Europe
Learn about International Plasma Awareness Week celebrations and resources in Europe.
We may all need a donation at some point, and so I say to myself, 'Why not?'
About ipaw IN europe
In the coming decade, more European patients are expected to need access to plasma-derived medicines. This makes IPAW an important chance to raise awareness for the power of plasma-derived medicinal products (PDMPs) and the patients who rely on them.
Every year, more patients across the EU are diagnosed with life-threatening plasma protein-related disorders, such as immune deficiencies, immune-mediated peripheral neuropathies, hereditary angioedema, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiencies, haemophilia, von Willebrand disease, and more.
In many cases, plasma-derived medicines are the only option to treat these rare diseases. New indications, improved diagnostic techniques, greater use in Europe, and increased use in cancer treatment-induced secondary immunodeficiency contribute to a growing clinical need. IPAW helps shine a light on this growing demand, and on plasma donation in Europe.
Across Europe, donor centers and patient organizations are hosting activities to raise awareness during IPAW. Click below to find a donor center near you, and reach out to learn if they are planning events or celebrations.
